Gourmet Arabica Coffee

Arabica coffee beans are the standard for any quality coffee. These trees have glossy leaves and white flowers so fragrant that a plantation in bloom can be smelled two or three miles out to sea. They are more difficult to grow than Robusta, but decidedly superior in flavor. Simply saying that beans are Arabica, however, is not enough. That's like saying, "This is good wine. It's made from grapes."

The flavor of an Arabica coffee depends on a huge range of variables. There are hundreds of varieties within the Arabica family, for starters. But growing methods, weather conditions and other factors have a very strong influence on the outcome of the crop. Some varieties grow best in certain locales, and even slight variations can affect the taste. Kona coffee, for instance, was planted on other Hawaiian islands after the Big Island brew proved to be so successful. Even though the beans were the same, however, the flavor was decidedly inferior.

Hair Raiser coffee starts with the very best beans, and our roasting process adds another dimension. We've figured out how to roast those beans darker than anybody else, without ever tipping over from "very dark" to "burnt." Our power roaster uses high heats and controlled drafts to expel the chaff. The result is a sophisticated, complex cup of zowie that is never bitter or ashy.
